eSIM guide
How to troubleshoot an eSIM
Start with reversible checks and change one setting at a time. Keep the eSIM installed while you troubleshoot: deleting a profile can make recovery more difficult and some profiles cannot be downloaded again without help.
First identify the stage that failed
- Cannot install: the profile never appears in the phone’s SIM or mobile network settings.
- Installed but no service: the profile appears, but the phone does not register on a network.
- Signal but no internet: network bars or a carrier name appear, but mobile data does not work.
- Worked and then stopped: investigate allowance, validity, coverage, local network conditions, and settings changes.
Note the exact error message and take a screenshot before changing anything. That evidence helps distinguish a phone setting from a profile, account, or network issue.
If the eSIM will not install
- Confirm the phone model supports eSIM and is unlocked for another provider.
- Use stable Wi-Fi, turn off VPN temporarily if appropriate, and restart the setup flow once.
- Check whether the eSIM already appears in SIM settings, even if the scan ended with a message.
- Enter manual details exactly as supplied if that installation method is available.
- If the code is reported as invalid or already used and no profile exists, stop rescanning and contact support.
QR codes can contain sensitive installation credentials. Do not post yours publicly or send it through an unauthenticated social account.
If there is no service after arrival
- Verify that your location is included in the purchased plan and the plan is within its validity period.
- Enable the travel eSIM and select it as the phone’s mobile data line.
- Set data roaming on the travel line as required by the plan instructions.
- Use airplane mode for about 30 seconds, turn it off, and allow a few minutes for registration.
- Restart the phone if it still does not register.
- Leave network selection on automatic first; try a named partner manually only when your instructions or support identify one.
Weak indoor reception, terrain, congestion, outages, and unsupported radio bands can affect service. Move to an open area before concluding the profile has failed, and review the coverage disclaimer.
If the phone has signal but data does not work
- Turn Wi-Fi off briefly so the test actually uses mobile data.
- Confirm the travel line—not the home line—is selected for mobile data.
- Disable automatic data switching if it is sending traffic through the wrong line.
- Compare the APN with the plan instructions, including spelling and capitalization.
- Temporarily disable a VPN, private DNS, or restrictive data-saving mode if safe and appropriate.
- Check the plan account for remaining data and validity, then retry with a simple webpage.
Avoid guessing APN values from another provider. An incorrect APN can prevent data even while the phone remains registered on a network.
If service is slow or intermittent
Compare performance in another location and at another time. Local congestion and radio conditions can change quickly. If the plan supports more than one network and its instructions allow manual selection, test an identified supported network. Return to automatic selection afterward if manual selection becomes unreliable.
A displayed network type such as 5G does not promise a particular speed. Device support, signal quality, network policy, backhaul, congestion, and fair-use limits can all affect performance.
What to send support
- Your order ID and destination country
- The exact phone model, software version, and whether it is carrier-unlocked
- The stage that failed and the full error message
